Converting whole Word Documents to Wiki Code
Transforming already created documents from e.g. MS Word to Wiki - Code is quite a common task.
Unfortunately, word has no export - functionality for that kind of task.
But there is a real good, gratis tool available for this purpose:
It's OpenOffice.org.
Since OpenOffice version 2.3 it is possible to transform your e.g. Word - document to Wiki - Code with one click.
Here's a short 'how to' introduction on that tool.
- Download the latest release of Open Office (at least you need Version higher than 2.3) and install it.
- Open your Word - Document with the sWriter of OpenOffice (Don't worry - OpenOffice understands your Word documents without any problems).
- Go to File / Export.
- Under File format choose MediaWiki (.txt).
- Click Save.
- Open the new file in a text editor and copy the contents to the clipboard.
- Paste the text to your Wikipedia article.
